About the Role
As an Assistant GIS Consultant you will play an important role in delivering WSP’s UK Digital strategy by driving location intelligence across infrastructure, environmental, transport and planning projects. You will join the growing Geospatial team within the Transformation & Digital Insights service line and support multidisciplinary project teams by preparing, managing and analysing spatial data. High‑quality information will underpin project outcomes and help meet client expectations. Day‑to‑day you will work with geospatial tools such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online and relevant web‑mapping applications to produce accurate datasets, insightful analysis, engaging web solutions and professional cartography. You will design efficient data‑management practices, develop repeatable workflows and deliver outputs such as dashboards, web applications and hard‑copy maps. Your work will directly help teams meet deadlines, budgets and quality standards. Collaboration, communication and curiosity are central to success in this role. You will work closely with colleagues and clients at all levels of digital understanding, explaining GIS concepts in an accessible way and ensuring geospatial insights are clearly understood. The supportive and innovative team environment will encourage you to stay ahead of emerging technologies and continuously improve how geospatial solutions are delivered. • Undertake GIS mapping, spatial analysis, data capture and data management with high accuracy and consistency. • Prepare, manage and analyse geospatial data from multiple sources to support multidisciplinary project teams. • Produce high‑quality maps, figures, dashboards and web applications using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online and ESRI Field Apps. • Follow documented geospatial procedures to ensure robust and repeatable data‑management processes. • Collaborate with internal and external teams, explaining GIS methods clearly to colleagues of all skill levels. • Implement efficient working practices that enhance delivery capability and provide best‑value services for clients. • Contribute to quality assurance by ensuring spatial data, analysis and outputs meet standards for accuracy and clarity. • Support GIS project delivery to keep tasks on time, within budget and meeting quality benchmarks. • Liaise with project teams and external stakeholders to gather data requirements and share outputs effectively. • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and tools.

What You Bring
• Strong understanding of GIS and geospatial data management, especially enterprise geodatabases. • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and ESRI Field Apps. • Ability to integrate ESRI platforms and configure web applications such as Dashboards, Web Apps or Survey123. • Knowledge of relational databases, geodatabase design and deployment. • Familiarity with UK GIS datasets, both proprietary and open source. • Customer‑focused mindset delivering high‑quality service. • Self‑motivated and able to show initiative. • Proactive in developing new skills and staying current with technology.
