About the Role

In this senior role, you will provide technical leadership for the design, coordination, delivery, installation, and commissioning of mechanical and piping systems for large‑scale water facilities. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, construction personnel, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project excellence from concept through handover. Key responsibilities include leading mechanical and piping design for desalination and treatment plants, developing and reviewing P&IDs, layouts, specifications, calculations, and equipment schedules, and ensuring design integration and constructability with process, electrical, civil, and construction teams. You will also provide technical expertise throughout procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning, conduct risk assessments, HAZOP workshops, and design reviews, oversee quality and compliance, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement across the project team. • Lead design of mechanical and piping systems for desalination and water‑treatment plants. • Develop and review P&IDs, layouts, specifications, calculations, and equipment schedules. • Coordinate design integration with process, electrical, civil, and construction teams. • Provide technical support throughout procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning. • Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and design reviews to ensure safety and compliance. • Oversee quality and performance standards in line with ACCIONA engineering governance. • Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement on the project team. • Contribute to a high‑impact water security project within a global sustainability leader.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over eight years of experience in mechanical and piping design, preferably within water, process, energy, or heavy‑industrial sectors. A strong understanding of pumps, pressure systems, valves, piping materials, and water‑treatment processes, experience on EPC or D&C projects, and excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills are required. Ability to work onsite in the Eyre Peninsula is essential, and chartered status is highly regarded. • Hold a Mechanical Engineering degree with 8+ years of relevant design experience. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of pumps, pressure systems, valves, piping materials, and water‑treatment processes. • Experience on EPC or D&C projects, including commissioning support. • Possess strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities. • Ability to work onsite on the Eyre Peninsula as required; chartered status preferred.
