About the Role

The Gas Operator is responsible for operating machinery needed to trench for natural gas pipelines, digging safely around underground utilities, installing pipelines in the ditch, and providing sufficient backfill. This role supports the line team and collaborates with other department personnel. • Operate jobsite equipment safely. • Perform service, safety checks, and minor repairs on equipment, including oil and fluid checks. • Load trucks in a safe, accident‑free manner. • Observe pipe laying for safety hazards such as potential cave‑ins. • Dig around all live underground and overhead utilities. • Install natural gas pipelines in the ditch and provide adequate backfill.

What You Bring

The position works in a field environment that requires frequent bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in extreme weather conditions. It also demands clear vision, precise hand‑eye coordination, and the ability to distinguish colors and judge distances. • High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year heavy‑equipment operating experience (minimum). • 2+ years heavy‑equipment operating experience (preferred). • Operator qualification and DOT‑certified flagger. • CDL Class A license (preferred).
