About the Role
Under general supervision, assists Fleet Mechanic in performing a variety of tasks in support of plant construction and maintenance activities. Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities. Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties and activities as directed. • Use hand and power tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks, hoists). • Practice safe hoisting, jacking, and solvent handling. • Inspect brake systems, steering, wheel bearings with micrometers and gauges; replace damaged parts. • Replace defective engines or subassemblies such as transmissions. • Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts, and reassemble equipment. • Raise trucks, buses, and heavy components using hydraulic jacks or hoists. • Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication. • Test‑drive trucks, buses, and overhauled equipment to diagnose malfunctions. • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices. • Weld broken parts and structural members. • Attach and read test instruments to diagnose equipment issues. • Use handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges to test and diagnose defects. • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive/mechanical equipment such as pumps and compressors. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, wearing required PPE; perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications: Helpers (includes helpers 0 months- helper 42 months) • Preferred minimum of 6 months documented field experience in chosen craft discipline. Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.
