Job Highlights
About the Role
Key duties include identifying equipment upgrades, troubleshooting electrical and controls downtime, and designing safety‑focused control solutions. You will maintain accurate schematics and bills of materials, research new technologies, develop preventative‑maintenance schedules, track reliability metrics, and provide corrective‑action reports to management. The position also involves training maintenance staff and overseeing contractors for engineering projects. • Identify equipment needs and propose modifications to improve performance and cost efficiency. • Troubleshoot electrical and control system downtime to quickly resume production. • Design and implement electrical and control solutions for safety and improvement projects. • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including schematics, drawings, and bills of material. • Research and evaluate new technologies for potential plant integration. • Develop and execute electrical preventative‑maintenance schedules with the Maintenance Manager. • Track reliability metrics, conduct root‑cause analysis, and deliver corrective‑action plans. • Provide training and skill development for maintenance personnel. • Support contractor selection and oversight for engineering projects. • Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware) and set up drives (PowerFlex, Unico Cutoff).

What You Bring
We are seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer for our Atlas Tube division in North Kansas City. The role blends analytical troubleshooting, hands‑on technical expertise, and a proactive continuous‑improvement mindset to enhance equipment reliability, plant safety, and operational efficiency. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and have at least three years of industrial or manufacturing experience. Proficiency is required in reading electrical prints, PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Wonderware), drive setup, and AC/DC motor control, as well as competence with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem‑solving skills are essential. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. • Possess 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing experience in maintenance or engineering. • Read and interpret electrical prints and ladder logic proficiently. • Knowledge of AC and DC motor control systems. • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
