Job Highlights
About the Role
In this position you will integrate hardware and software across lab and platform environments, configure network components, and manage troubleshooting and defect resolution across multiple layers. You will also support security accreditation, apply OS hardening, and produce technical documentation to keep engineering and leadership informed of progress and risks. • Integrate hardware and software, building and validating RHEL/Windows images, servers, laptops, and network devices in lab and platform environments. • Configure IP addressing, VLANs, routing, trunking, and validate performance/QoS across integrated systems. • Conduct structured troubleshooting and defect management across physical, OS, application, and network layers, including log capture and root‑cause analysis. • Apply OS hardening, create security artefacts (PPS matrices, diagrams, build guides, STIG‑style checklists) and support accreditation processes. • Produce technical documentation and liaise with engineering, cybersecurity, vendors, and leadership to report progress, risks, and system readiness. • Set up and test servers, laptops, and network devices; build and configure Linux (RHEL) and Windows images, services, drivers, and packages. • Diagnose hardware and software issues using methodical fault‑isolation techniques and generate clear defect reports. • Apply networking fundamentals such as IP/subnetting, VLANs, trunk/access ports, cabling standards, and basic routing/switching. • Leverage lab‑based test & evaluation, OS security hardening (CIS/STIG), virtualization/containerisation (VMware, KVM, Docker/Podman), CI/CD pipelines, and scripting for automation (advantageous). • Create and manage technical artefacts like network/solution diagrams (Visio/Draw.io) and maintain configuration items in Git for repeatable integration workflows. • Maintain an active NV1 or higher security clearance and comply with ITAR requirements where applicable. • Contribute to critical Defence projects that protect Australia’s future.
