About the Role

In this role the technician performs preventive‑maintenance inspections, diagnoses faults, and repairs or rebuilds major components on compactors, containers and carts. The work includes a range of moderately complex welding processes, documentation in fleet‑maintenance software, safety checks, and emergency service calls. All activities must follow established safety procedures and OSHA standards. • Execute a variety of welding techniques, including arc, gas, aluminum, brazing, plastic welding and soft soldering on diverse materials. • Document repairs, parts usage and labor time using WM’s fleet maintenance software. • Conduct safety inspections on compactors and containers before and after service. • Respond to scheduled service calls and emergency breakdowns across the service region. • Perform metal and plastic fabrication tasks such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling and notching. • Set up standard layouts, dimensions and tolerances for custom repairs and fabricate fixtures as needed. • Estimate repair time and material costs, and generate requisitions for new parts. • Inspect the quality of external or supplier repairs and ensure they meet WM standards. • Provide guidance, training and supervisory support to lower‑level maintenance personnel. • Maintain a clean, organized work area complying with corporate and OSHA safety standards.

What You Bring

The position requires at least four years of relevant experience and a valid driver’s license. Preferred candidates have two or more years of solid electrical, hydraulic repair and MIG or stick‑welding experience. Work is performed both inside gas‑plant environments and outdoors in inclement weather, with physical demands that may require lifting, bending and handling tools.
