About the Role

The Community & Citizenship Manager (reporting to the Community & Citizenship Manager, Director, or General Manager) leads the development and implementation of programs that align with business unit goals and the Community & Citizenship strategic pillars. This full‑time, office‑based role is located in West Des Moines, IA, and does not offer remote or hybrid work. Key responsibilities include building relationships with clients, community and industry partners, leading Under‑Represented Business Enterprise (UBE) initiatives, creating educational pipelines, and providing C&C content for business development. The employee will apply lean concepts, promote employee involvement in community initiatives, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement while performing other duties as assigned. • Meet with clients, community, and industry partners to identify opportunities. • Attend industry events to cultivate relationships. • Lead development and implementation of Community & Citizenship programs aligned with business unit goals. • Guide Under‑Represented Business Enterprise (UBE) programs, track utilization metrics, and advise on bidding opportunities. • Build partnerships with local, state, federal, and city organizations supporting UBE advancement. • Organize outreach events to engage UBEs. • Establish collaborations with schools and after‑school programs to create future construction industry pipelines. • Research social and economic trends to evaluate community service impact. • Provide Community & Citizenship content for business development and sales pursuits. • Promote employee participation in C&C initiatives and recognize community service contributions. • Apply lean tools (PDCA, Kanban, A3, Storyboarding) to improve program efficiency. • Contribute new ideas for continuous improvement of the C&C team.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold an associate’s degree or higher (often in liberal arts, communications, marketing, sociology, public affairs, or related fields) and have at least five years of relevant experience. They should demonstrate passion for community programs, strong program‑management and research skills, industry knowledge of construction and supplier diversity, and effective verbal and written communication, while being able to work independently in a non‑structured environment. Additional expectations include initiative, confidentiality, problem‑solving, basic lean methodology, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Physical demands involve frequent sitting and computer work, occasional mobility, and lifting up to 10‑25 lb, with minimal travel.
