Civil Engineering Intern - Roadway

About the Role
Interns will regularly use technical software to analyze, produce, and quality‑control deliverables for clients. They will contribute to pre‑construction civil engineering design, planning, permitting, and analysis across projects of varying size and scope. The role involves solving complex problems, supporting project managers, and collaborating across disciplines to realize client visions for the built environment. Interns will also become familiar with federal, state, and local regulations as well as Kimley‑Horn’s and client standards, and will learn one or more discipline‑specific software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, MicroStation, VISSIM, OpenRoads, Synchro, or GIS. • Analyze and quality‑check client deliverables using technical software. • Support pre‑construction civil engineering design, planning, permitting, and analysis for diverse projects. • Resolve complex engineering challenges and collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams. • Acquire knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as well as company and client standards. • Train on industry‑specific tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, MicroStation, VISSIM, OpenRoads, Synchro, and GIS.

What You Bring
Kimley‑Horn is seeking engineering students to join its Prescott, Arizona office. This role is on‑site and not remote, offering hands‑on experience within the firm’s engineering practice. Candidates must be pursuing an ABET‑accredited engineering degree—bachelor’s or master’s—in civil or environmental engineering, mechanical, biological, biosystems, chemical, agricultural engineering, or engineering technology. • Pursue an ABET‑accredited B.S. or M.S. in civil/environmental, mechanical, biological, biosystems, chemical, agricultural engineering, or engineering technology.
