Job Highlights
About the Role
The role involves performing various tasks in a landfill to contain loose refuse and prevent scattering while also directing traffic as needed. This includes manual collection of windblown paper, operating a mobile vacuum tractor, and handling construction materials for site maintenance. During heavy traffic periods, the laborer stations at the landfill entrance to manage truck flow using verbal or hand signals. The position also requires separating recyclable materials such as metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard on the tipping floor. • Contain loose refuse and prevent scattering at the landfill. • Manually collect windblown paper and load it into large trash bags. • Operate a mobile vacuum tractor to remove debris along landfill borders. • Direct truck traffic at the landfill entrance during peak periods. • Lift construction materials and use hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws. • Separate metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard on the tipping floor. • Maintain required licenses per local, state, federal, environmental, and health/safety regulations. • Meet physical demands including lifting, operating equipment, and working outdoors.
