• Review project plans, specifications, and documentation to develop accurate cost estimates. • Perform quantity take‑offs for HVAC components such as ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls. • Prepare detailed labor, material, and equipment cost estimates. • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes. • Identify scope gaps, risks, and value‑engineering opportunities. • Assist project managers with budgets, bids, and proposals. • Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and bid templates. • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions. • Coordinate with operations and engineering teams to align estimates with execution. • Stay current on industry trends, codes, and commercial HVAC technology.

What You Bring

The Commercial HVAC Estimator will prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects, including new construction, tenant improvements, and retrofits. The role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, the ability to analyze drawings and specifications, and effective collaboration with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, driven, and able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Applicants should have at least three years of experience estimating commercial HVAC systems, a solid understanding of HVAC equipment and installation practices, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents. Proficiency with estimating software, Excel, and construction management tools, along with strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills, is essential. Experience with design‑build delivery, BIM/VDC coordination, and mentoring junior estimators is also valued. Preferred candidates hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field, and have familiarity with tools such as Trimble, QuickPen, and Bluebeam.
