About the Role
The Maintenance Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. The role assists in maintenance and repair efforts and independently performs defined tasks, including inspections and repairs to interior and exterior areas such as walls, flooring, fixtures, roofing, and lighting. Typical daily duties include maintaining lighting system bulbs and ballasts, assisting the operations team with building and equipment repairs, and performing general interior maintenance such as hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, and repairing office furniture. The mechanic also handles minor plumbing repairs, special tasks like painting, locksmith work, and tenant service requests, moves furniture and equipment, conducts facility inspections, and is on call for after‑hours emergencies. • Perform inspections and repairs on lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and interior/exterior fixtures. • Maintain lighting systems, replacing bulbs and ballasts as needed. • Conduct general interior maintenance such as hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, and repairing office furniture. • Complete minor plumbing repairs and specialty tasks like painting and locksmith work. • Move office furniture, machinery, and equipment according to requests. • Conduct facility inspections and report conditions affecting client occupancy and operations. • Respond to after‑hours emergencies while on call. • Follow safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and ensure compliance with codes and hazardous‑material handling policies. • Document work performance and material procurement accurately.

What You Bring
The position requires strict adherence to safety procedures, good housekeeping, and recognition of hazards, as well as compliance with state, county, and city codes and hazardous‑material handling policies. Ongoing technical, safety, and operational training is provided, and the employee documents work performance and material procurement. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in general building repair, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work, be able to lift a minimum of 80 lb, use ladders up to 30 ft, and possess mechanical and electrical aptitude. Excellent written and oral English communication, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently or in a team are required, while completion of a technical training program is preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. • Minimum three years of experience in building repair, basic plumbing, and basic electrical work. • Ability to lift at least 80 lb, use ladders up to 30 ft, and possess mechanical/electrical aptitude. • Hold a valid state driver’s license and demonstrate strong English communication skills. • Preferred completion of an applicable technical training program.

The estimated compensation range is $45,000–$65,000 per year, based in Chicago, IL, with on‑site work.
