About the Role
The Manager, Business Development provides direct support for the Business Development Department and collaborates with the VP of Business Development to drive strategic growth and expansion of Canadian ports, terminals, freight forwarding, and logistics businesses. The role advances the business pipeline, refines the First Nations strategy, and deepens internal and external relationships that fuel business growth. The position supports the creation and execution of business development strategies, manages the development pipeline, negotiates leases and agreements, and prepares status reports for senior leadership. It also transforms data into visual insights, crafts clear communications, oversees project plans and budgets, monitors progress against financial and operational targets, mitigates risks, conducts market research, and maintains strong stakeholder and First Nations relationships while collaborating with regional, head office, government relations, and marketing teams. • Support development and execution of comprehensive business development strategies and roadmaps. • Build, track, and report on the business development pipeline. • Assist in negotiation and management of leases and agreements. • Prepare regular status reports for senior leadership highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations. • Convert data into impactful visualizations to generate actionable insights. • Develop clear, concise, and visually engaging written and graphical communications for initiatives and presentations. • Create and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines with cross‑functional teams. • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with financial and operational targets. • Identify risks and issues and implement mitigation strategies as needed. • Conduct market research and analysis to pinpoint growth opportunities aligned with organizational goals. • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, customers, and First Nations. • Collaborate with regional and head office teams on Canadian business growth opportunities. • Partner with government relations and marketing initiatives to advance business growth. • Provide advisory support for major projects in ports, terminals, transportation, resource development, and supply chain sectors in Canada.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a relevant bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of progressive business development experience, especially in infrastructure and Canadian ports, terminals, and supply chain sectors. They demonstrate strong stakeholder and Indigenous engagement skills, deep knowledge of Canadian Indigenous history, culture, and regulations, excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities, and proficiency with Excel and data‑visualization tools. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Science, Engineering, or a related field. • Bring at least 7 years of progressive experience in business development. • Have experience developing infrastructure projects. • Possess experience negotiating and providing strategic direction to large, complex public/private organizations. • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder and partner relationships, including with business leaders, elected officials, government bureaucrats, and First Nation economic development leaders. • Experience in Indigenous engagement. • Understanding of Canadian Indigenous history, culture, policy, and law. • Knowledge of regional cultural and business practices of BC First Nations. • Understanding of federal and provincial regulations related to environmental and operational permitting for major infrastructure projects. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail. • Experience creating comprehensive status reports and presentations for senior leadership. • Proficiency in Excel; experience with data visualization and analysis tools is an asset. • Fluent in English; French and/or Spanish are assets. • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
