About the Role

The position is a full‑time remote role based in England for Hitachi Energy UK Limited. As a Commissioning Supervisor in the Grid & Power Quality Solutions Service business, you will lead site‑based commissioning activities across assigned Grid Integration projects. The role reports to the Department Commissioning Manager and supports Site Lead Commissioning Engineers while adhering to EHS and Quality policies. You will supervise, allocate and coordinate daily commissioning tasks for on‑site teams and subcontractors, ensuring work is properly planned, executed and tracked. Regular interaction with Site Lead Commissioning Engineers will be required to align schedules and resources. You will also organise and manage personnel and equipment across the site portfolio. Technical delivery includes overseeing LV and HV (up to 400 kV) commissioning such as secondary and primary injection, functional testing, energisation and handover at substations and offshore platforms. You will develop and maintain commissioning schedules in collaboration with Site Leads and the Project Manager, and support the preparation and control of inspection and test plans, documentation and procedures. You will provide daily and weekly progress reports on safety, quality, time and cost to the Department Commissioning Manager, and communicate issues, risks, non‑conformances and proposed solutions to site teams and project management. Liaising with suppliers, vendors, manufacturers and other engineering teams is also part of the role. What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline and has at least five years of substation commissioning experience, including hands‑on execution and team management. Required knowledge includes LV/HV safety practices, inspection and test methods (secondary/primary injection, functional testing) and strong communication, leadership and scheduling skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience using Microsoft Project or similar tools for schedule development is also expected. The role is remote with occasional visits to the Birmingham office and client locations in the UK or EU; note that visa sponsorship is not available.
