Team Leader - Cloud Enablement and DevOps

About the Role

We are seeking a Team Leader – Cloud Enablement and DevOps to guide the Platform Solutions team. In this pivotal leadership role you will modernise platform foundations, boost GHD staff productivity, and help win work from clients. The role includes directing project and operational delivery of platform products, leading the development of scalable cloud platforms, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through DevOps and FinOps best practices. You will develop cloud standards, research emerging technologies, monitor performance, manage upgrades, and support escalations while contributing to strategy and business planning. Leadership responsibilities involve building an inclusive, high‑performing team, setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, facilitating knowledge sharing, and handling recruitment and onboarding. You will conduct 1:1s, wellbeing checks, and ensure open communication across teams. • Direct delivery of Platform Solutions projects and operational services. • Lead development of scalable cloud platforms and engineering frameworks. • Establish and enforce DevOps and FinOps best practices across the organization. • Create cloud standards, policies, and best practices for security, reliability, and performance. • Research emerging cloud technologies and recommend innovative solutions. • Monitor platform performance to prevent outages and system errors. • Provide problem‑solving support, manage escalations, and drive continuous improvement. • Oversee upgrades and planned outages following change management processes. • Contribute to Platform Solutions strategy, business planning, and stakeholder collaboration. • Produce high‑quality reports, presentations, and communications. • Design, implement, and manage ICT systems securely within GHD’s risk framework. • Lead and coach a high‑performing, inclusive team, setting goals and delivering feedback. • Facilitate knowledge sharing, cross‑skilling, and regular team check‑ins. • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and employee wellbeing initiatives. • Apply expertise in automation, agile, DevOps, FinOps, and software‑defined datacenters. • Maintain vulnerability management and networking expertise for distributed architectures.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in automation frameworks, agile, DevOps, FinOps, and software‑defined datacentres, along with advanced Azure solution architecture, DevOps QA, vulnerability management, and networking knowledge. Strong technical problem‑solving, analytical, and cross‑cultural leadership skills, together with a proactive and collaborative communication style, are essential. A degree in Computer Science or a related field, five or more years of experience in a global professional services environment, and prior team‑lead experience are required. Experience with large Microsoft environments, enterprise datacentres, and relevant industry certifications is also expected. • Demonstrate advanced Microsoft Azure architecture and DevOps QA capabilities. • Exhibit strong technical problem‑solving, analytical, and leadership skills. • Hold a degree in Computer Science or related field and 5+ years’ experience in global professional services. • Possess team‑lead experience and certifications relevant to Microsoft and cloud environments.
