About the Role

The incumbent assists the accountant with ensuring client contractual billing and accounts receivable requirements, audits client billing and project ledgers for compliance, processes vendor and subcontractor invoices, and verifies lien waivers, contracts, and insurance. They support the monthly close process, update insurance documentation for project assets and rentals, aid in project financial closeout, and handle internal and external audit requests. • Assist accountant to ensure client contractual billing and accounts receivable requirements are met. • Support accountant in auditing client billing and project ledger per contract, GAAP, and company policy. • Process vendor invoices and maintain up‑to‑date accounts payable for assigned projects. • Process subcontractor invoices, ensuring lien waivers, contracts, and insurance are in place. • Help complete monthly close by posting or accruing client bills and material‑value project costs. • Provide monthly updates on project assets and rentals for insurance documentation. • Assist with project financial closeout, confirming final contract amounts and required documentation. • Respond to internal and external audit requests. • Research problems, resolve them, escalate issues promptly, learn quickly, and meet deadlines. • Follow established procedures and complete tasks without managerial follow‑up.

The role is located in Sacramento, CA and is a regular, experienced finance position reporting to the Senior Accountant or Financial Manager. It provides administrative and financial services to a profit center and is classified as salaried non‑exempt. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or possess equivalent education and experience, and have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles. They must be highly organized, detail‑oriented, accurate, and capable of working independently as well as within a team, following established procedures without needing managerial follow‑up. The position requires physical ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders, handling tools, and occasionally lifting heavy objects. The work environment involves exposure to construction hazards, variable weather, noise, and potential electrical shocks. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education/experience. • Knowledge of basic accounting principles. • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, accurate, and self‑checking. • Work independently with some oversight and effectively within a team. • Demonstrate strong work ethic, integrity, dependability, adaptability, cooperation, and motivation. • Professional written and verbal communication skills and general office abilities. • Proficient data entry, database use, and MS Office application skills.
