About the Role

Flexibility and collaboration are essential as work schedules are determined on an as‑needed basis. • Conduct cultural resource surveys, archaeological monitoring, and excavations; document findings with field notes, forms, and digital photography. • Use digital devices and GPS applications to record site data and maintain accurate photo logs. • Process recovered artifacts by washing, labeling, and cataloging; complete laboratory documentation. • Collaborate with crew chief, field director, and supervisors to address unusual problems and follow protocol.

What You Bring

We are seeking an Archaeology Technician II for our Cultural Resources team. This part‑time, on‑call position can be based remotely in Phoenix, AZ or Albuquerque, NM and reports to the Phoenix Cultural Resources group. The role involves fieldwork under the supervision of a crew chief, field director, or principal investigator, with occasional laboratory tasks, primarily in New Mexico and Arizona, and may require overnight travel. • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant archaeological field experience. • Possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and US citizenship; ability to travel overnight for field assignments. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field and 3+ years of field methodology experience. • Preferred: Prior technician work in Arizona/New Mexico and completion of an archaeological field school. • Demonstrated knowledge of survey and excavation techniques, GPS and Microsoft applications, and cultural resource management regulations (NHPA, NEPA). • Strong attention to detail, teamwork ethic, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
