About the Role

KBR supports the U.S. Air Force by providing security, base operations, maintenance, and repair at the Kyogamisaki and Shariki Communications Sites in Japan. The team ensures mission‑critical support within the INDOPACOM area and also delivers food services and quality‑of‑life support. The Electrical/HVAC Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on power quality, ground support equipment, fire and safety hazards, lighting standards, and comprehensive electrical system surveys and inspections. Key electrical duties include maintaining and repairing automatic transfer switches, monitoring generator connections, and servicing low‑voltage (600 V and below) real‑property electrical systems to code. The technician also works on feeder circuits, pad‑mounted transformer load sides, overhead risers, meter loops, transformers, streetlights, grounding equipment, and electrical manholes. The role requires installing, repairing, modifying, testing, and maintaining fire alarm, disaster warning, and intrusion alarm systems according to UFC 3‑601‑02, NFPA, and OEM instructions. Additionally, the technician performs installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and disposal of HVAC/R systems, with expertise in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of the 5‑ton Environmental Control Unit built by Alaska Structures Incorporated. Additional duties include acting as the Alternate Maximo and HAZMAT key person, performing general preventative maintenance on HVAC units and power generation equipment, and conducting corrosion control on site structures. The technician also operates material handling equipment, lawn and snow removal gear, participates in bimonthly MWR activities, and drives company vehicles for twice‑weekly mail runs and supply trips to Misawa AB. • Inspect, maintain, and repair site electrical systems including ATCs, generators, and low‑voltage circuits. • Perform fire alarm, disaster warning, and intrusion alarm installations and repairs per UFC 3‑601‑02 and NFPA standards. • Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC/R systems, especially the 5‑ton ECU units. • Interpret electrical and HVAC schematics and drawings to guide work activities. • Act as Alternate Maximo and Alternate HAZMAT/HAZWASTE key person. • Conduct general preventative maintenance on HVAC units, power generation equipment, and facility structures. • Operate material handling equipment, lawn mowers, and snow removal gear as required. • Participate in bimonthly Morale Welfare and Recreational (MWR) schedule. • Drive company vehicles for twice‑weekly mail pickup and delivery runs to Misawa AB and perform supply trips. • Maintain records, tools, and perform cleanup activities while adhering to safety protocols.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least five years of experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and an active Secret security clearance. An EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification is required (or must be obtained within 30 days), and an electrical technician certification per contract and DoD/Army regulations is preferred. • Lift moderate to heavy loads and wear required personal protective equipment. • Possess at least 5 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma, and an active Secret clearance. • Hold an EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification or obtain it within 30 days. • Preferably hold an electrical technician certification meeting DoD and U.S. Army directives.
