About the Role

This co‑op position in the Stormwater and Utilities Design group involves supporting assigned departments and projects by performing basic engineering tasks that reflect post‑secondary curriculum. You will work closely with experienced design engineers to create sustainable stormwater management and utility systems that mitigate flooding and improve network efficiency. You will assist engineer teams with various tasks, including research, development, and design of projects, as well as the preparation of engineering drawings and documents. Additional duties will be assigned as needed. • Assist in the design and analysis of stormwater management systems, including detention and retention ponds, green infrastructure, and roadway drainage collection networks. • Collaborate with mid‑level and senior engineers to develop stormwater management plans and solutions that meet regulatory requirements and environmental standards. • Support the design of utility systems, including water supply, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance systems. • Utilize design software and tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, StormCAD, and similar programs to create and modify design elements. • Attend site visits and conduct surveys with other experienced engineers to gather data, assess existing conditions, and evaluate design alternatives. • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental engineers, civil engineers, and landscape architects, to integrate stormwater and utility design elements seamlessly. • Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in stormwater management and utility design. • Participate in design review meetings and provide support to project teams as needed.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and be currently enrolled in an accredited post‑secondary engineering program. A basic understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to perform simple calculations and organize information are required. Preferred qualifications include completion of two years of a civil engineering program, experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and a strong interest in transportation and infrastructure.
