About the Role
In this role you will uncover user needs, validate product decisions and deliver research‑backed insights that shape roadmap priorities and technical implementation. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers and mission specialists in a multidisciplinary environment that values iteration, innovation and continuous improvement. Your work will directly influence systems that support satellite missions, national alert systems and geospatial analysis platforms. • Conduct mixed‑methods user research (interviews, observations, surveys, usability studies, analytics). • Perform on‑site fieldwork at scientific or federal facilities with minimal disruption to operations. • Translate findings into actionable insights, problem statements, workflows and journey models. • Partner with UI/UX designers to validate concepts and run iterative user testing. • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement analytics for continuous learning. • Mentor junior researchers and promote user‑centered thinking across cross‑functional teams.

What You Bring
The Field UX Researcher role (Senior UX Researcher) supports mission‑critical Science & Space programs, working directly with scientists, engineers and operations personnel whose work underpins national infrastructure, satellite missions and environmental monitoring. The position requires up to 50‑60% domestic travel, with a preferred base in Sioux Falls, SD, though remote work may be considered. It is contingent on contract award, customer approval and funding, and candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents able to obtain a government background check. • Required: U.S. citizen or permanent resident, bachelor's degree in a related field, 6+ years UX research/design in complex systems, proficiency with tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and Agile experience. • Desired: experience in scientific, government, aerospace or defense domains; familiarity with SaaS, responsive web apps, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, REST APIs, data‑visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), modern research platforms (Dovetail, UserTesting, Lookback, Maze), and leadership in facilitation or mentoring. • Travel up to 50‑60% domestic; preferred location Sioux Falls, SD with remote work considered.

Compensation ranges from $75,500 to $113,200, based on location, experience and contract affordability.
