About the Role
Under direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician B performs repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. This includes work on chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also involves basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. The technician maintains a working knowledge of vehicle components and performs both preventative and corrective maintenance on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities include chassis repair, refuse body systems, engine upkeep, suspension and drivetrain service, heating and air conditioning maintenance, and line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. Road service is provided when necessary to ensure safe and efficient return of equipment to operation, and malfunctions are diagnosed using electronic tools while completing required company training. • Repair and maintain diesel and non‑diesel equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, control, hydraulic, electrical, air brake, engine, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. • Perform basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. • Provide road service to safely return equipment to operation. • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using electronic tools and complete required training. • Conduct line‑maintenance welding and fabrication tasks.

What You Bring
Basic understanding of work‑order labor time standards and prior experience with Classes 1‑5 light/medium duty and Classes 7‑8 heavy‑duty trucks, aircraft, or ships are required. ASE certifications (T1‑T8) and a Commercial Driver’s License are advantageous but not mandatory. A valid driver’s license is required, and a minimum of one year of technician experience or recent graduation from an accredited automotive college is expected. • Minimum 1 year of experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment, or recent graduate from an accredited automotive program. • Basic understanding of work‑order labor standards and ability to inspect suspensions, steering, engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and emissions systems. • Valid driver’s license; ASE certifications and a commercial driver’s license are a plus.
