About the Role

• Lead the Mechanical Engineering discipline and manage direct reports. • Design HVAC systems for mid‑to large‑size building and facility projects. • Organize workload, lead staff, and work independently on design tasks. • Communicate and present technical solutions to clients. • Perform quality‑control reviews of team deliverables. • Provide technical input for studies, designs, and staff assignments. • Coordinate scope, schedule, and budget with project managers and senior staff. • Create designs and documentation using AutoCAD and Revit. • Develop energy models with Trane Trace and IES software. • Assist in technical proposals, including cost and schedule estimates. • Review permitting agency standards and regulations for project design. • Collaborate with civil, architecture, geotechnical, traffic, and landscape teams. • Support site investigations and construction‑phase activities.

What You Bring

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Discipline Lead for our Tampa, FL office. The role sits within the Buildings & Places practice and provides expertise in mechanical and plumbing engineering for building and facility projects. The candidate will work on all phases of a project, from scope development through design and construction support. • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years relevant experience or equivalent. • Current Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year. • Experience leading mechanical building design and managing resources. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for project designs. • Skilled in preparing calculations, reports, plans, and specifications. • US citizenship required. • Preferred: 10+ years HVAC engineering experience with management responsibilities. • Preferred: Experience on municipal, federal, and DOD projects. • Preferred: Manufacturing background and large, complex project experience. • Preferred: Construction phase services expertise (field reviews, RFI, submittals, as‑builts). • Preferred: Experience navigating permitting processes and interacting with authorities.
