About the Role
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, the successful candidate will perform all routine mechanical maintenance and repair work on equipment throughout the thermal generating fleet. The role requires effective teamwork, the ability to work in a planned environment, and occasional travel to other sites across the province. Participation in regulatory and on‑the‑job training programs is expected, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations is mandatory. • Perform routine mechanical maintenance and repairs on thermal generating station equipment. • Collaborate with the mechanical team and travel across the province to support other sites as needed. • Participate in regulatory, on‑the‑job, and skill‑development training programs. • Adhere to occupational health, safety, and environmental management system rules. • Lift and carry loads up to 100 lb, work at heights, and perform bending, climbing, and static neck movements. • Engage in community initiatives, volunteering, fundraising matching, and scholarship programs.

Nova Scotia Power’s Power Production department at the Lingan Generating Station in Lingan, NS is hiring a Certified Maintenance Person. The position is regular full‑time, on‑site, paying $48.41 per hour in accordance with the NSPI/IBEW collective agreement. Applications close on February 17, 2026. Candidates must hold a Red Seal certification as an Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Steamfitter/Pipefitter, Machinist, or High‑Pressure Welder (including GTAW/SMAW/TIG/MIG) and have at least three years of modern mechanical maintenance experience in a generating station or similar industry. Strong problem‑resolution skills, teamwork, interpersonal abilities, and computer aptitude are required. Additional journeyperson certifications such as machinist or pipefitter are considered assets. The position involves physical tasks such as lifting 40–50 lb loads, occasional handling of up to 100 lb, and working at considerable heights. Workers must be able to perform bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and occasional crawling, as well as frequent static neck flexion and rotation. • Hold a Red Seal certification (Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Steamfitter/Pipefitter, Machinist, or High‑Pressure Welder) with at least three years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate strong problem‑resolution, teamwork, and computer aptitude. • Pass the Emera Alcohol and Drug pre‑employment test as required for this safety‑sensitive role.
