About the Role
The role involves leading a maintenance team on Defence sites, ensuring high‑quality work, compliance with standards, and effective risk management while capturing performance metrics and asset condition data. • Manage an Estate Upkeep team to conduct trades work delivering estate maintenance within Defence sites • Capture KPI’s and Estate Upkeep work performance metrics • Provide asset condition data • Ensure all work aligns with required standards and requirements • Identify and manage risks associated with works delivery

What You Bring
We are seeking permanent staff for the Cairns location as a Leading Hand Estate Upkeep, with a start date in February 2026, and we welcome applicants from any background, whether they bring Defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills. Successful candidates will hold a relevant trade certificate, possess leadership and maintenance supervision experience, and be able to obtain a Defence Security Clearance; Australian citizenship is mandatory. • Hold a Trade Certificate (Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical) • Possess a general trade background with leadership and maintenance supervision experience • Have working knowledge of asset compliance/management techniques • Building Maintenance Leadership Certification (desirable) • Hold a QLD/NSW Trade licence for the relevant discipline • Maintain a current open driver’s licence • Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory)
