Executive – Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

The engineer will design and integrate elevator electrical subsystems, define control‑system and motor/drive requirements, and create and review component specifications. They will select and size critical parts—including relays, circuit breakers, transformers and protection devices—and perform calculations for cable, power converter, machine and heat‑release sizing. The role also involves conducting failure and risk analyses (PROCERT, FMEA, RAMP, RRCA, DoE), verifying component qualifications, and participating in design reviews. In addition, the candidate will manage project planning, global stakeholder communication, risk forecasting and mitigation, and drive improvements in customer MFA. They will work closely with chief engineers, module owners and global engineering teams in China, the US and Europe to deploy standard work, design modules and identify value‑engineering opportunities for cost reduction. • Lead digitization and standardization of electrical designs using Zuken E3. • Design and integrate elevator electrical subsystems, including control, motor, and VF drive interfaces. • Develop and review electrical component and subsystem specifications, proposing cost‑effective alternatives. • Select and size key components such as relays, circuit breakers, transformers, and protection systems. • Perform calculations for cable sizing, power converters, machine sizing, heat release, and power supply designs. • Conduct failure and risk analyses (PROCERT, FMEA, RAMP, RRCA, DoE) and verify component qualifications. • Manage project planning, global stakeholder coordination, risk mitigation, and customer MFA improvements. • Collaborate with chief engineers, module owners, and global teams to deploy standard work and design modules. • Identify value‑engineering opportunities to reduce product and process costs.

What You Bring

The position requires a BE/B.Tech/M.Tech degree and 5‑7 years of experience as an electrical design engineer, preferably in product development and industrial electrical components or switchgear. Proficiency with AutoCAD, EPLAN or Zuken E3 is essential, and elevator‑industry experience is a plus. Candidates must deliver designs that meet Otis safety, quality and cost targets, provide timely troubleshooting, and continuously improve design quality. • Minimum 5‑7 years experience as an electrical design engineer with a BE/B.Tech/M.Tech degree. • Hands‑on expertise with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or Zuken E3; elevator industry experience is a plus. • Strong communication, teamwork, and ethical conduct.
