About the Role
In this position you will guide teams in creating project design packages, define scope, set schedules and milestones, and determine resource requirements. You will coordinate daily activities with internal teams, clients, vendors and contractors, monitor key performance indicators, manage risks, and report progress to senior managers. Additional duties include supporting budget tracking, preparing documentation, and adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Lead design project teams, defining scope, schedules, milestones, and resource requirements for federal clients. • Coordinate daily activities with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors to meet project objectives. • Monitor project performance, track KPIs, identify risks or delays, and report findings to senior management. • Support budget management by tracking expenses, reviewing cost estimates, and ensuring alignment with approved budgets. • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, risk assessments, change orders, and closeout reports. • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Work in a flexible, agile workplace model supporting employee growth and client needs.

What You Bring
WSP is seeking an experienced Project Manager for its Birmingham, Alabama office to lead engineering and design projects for U.S. government and military clients. The role will oversee large and mid-size, multi-discipline projects for agencies such as the Department of Defense, US Army Corps of Engineers, Missile Defense Agency, and Navy Facilities Command. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of post-education experience in project-management support within architecture, engineering, or construction, a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent), and a PE or PMP certification. They must have 3-5 years managing federal design projects for MDA, USACE, or NAVFAC, hold U.S. citizenship, and be able to work on-site in a WSP office. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and typical design/engineering software, strong organizational and safety-compliance skills are also required. • Possess 10+ years of post-education experience in project-management support within architecture, engineering, or construction. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent) and maintain PE or PMP certification. • Have 3-5 years of experience managing federal design projects for agencies such as MDA, USACE, or NAVFAC. • Meet U.S. citizenship requirement and be able to work on-site in a WSP office (remote work discouraged). • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office and design/engineering software (drafting, modeling, analysis, cost engineering). • Exhibit strong organizational, time-management, and safety-compliance capabilities.
