About the Role
The role involves coordinating and managing technical tax arguments related to VAT and corporate income tax to ensure timely responses to queries from tax authorities, including during audits, VAT refund claims, and voluntary disclosures. The incumbent will maintain ongoing communication with tax authorities until audits and refunds are fully resolved. The incumbent will support tax training sessions for various stakeholders as required and assist in developing and implementing tax strategy, policies, and procedures for VAT accounting, compliance, and audits. Providing tax advice across multiple service lines and cooperating with global tax teams to align regional tax strategy with the overall business model are also key responsibilities. Support for ERP system projects related to indirect taxes, such as e‑invoicing and e‑reporting implementations, is essential. The role also includes advising on tax matters during acquisitions and divestitures, supervising the integration of newly acquired businesses, and overseeing VAT implementation in countries adopting a VAT system, working closely with IT teams to assess impacts and test processes. • Construct and oversee VAT and CIT positions for tax authority inquiries, audits, and refund claims. • Maintain communication with tax authorities until audits and VAT refunds are closed. • Deliver tax training sessions to relevant stakeholders as needed. • Develop and implement tax strategy, policies, and procedures for VAT compliance and audits. • Collaborate with global tax teams to align regional tax strategy with the overall business model. • Support ERP and e‑invoicing/e‑reporting projects, ensuring correct indirect tax configuration. • Advise on tax implications of acquisitions, divestitures, and business integrations. • Lead VAT implementation for new jurisdictions, assessing business impact and coordinating IT testing. • Stay current on Middle‑East VAT regulations and corporate income tax practices. • Utilize SAP and other ERP systems for VAT implementation and reporting. • Ensure compliance with US GAAP/IFRS, Sarbanes‑Oxley, and internal control standards. • Partner with cross‑functional teams across Operations, VAT COE, and Global Tax.

What You Bring
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or tax, with professional qualifications considered an asset. A minimum of five years of progressive indirect tax experience in the Middle East, preferably within a multinational environment or Big 4 firm, is required, along with strong technical knowledge of regional VAT, ERP (especially SAP) experience, and familiarity with US GAAP or IFRS and internal control frameworks. Fluency in English, team‑player mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment are essential; knowledge of Arabic and tax agent status in the UAE are desirable.
