About the Role
Under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager, the Deputy Plant Manager supports daily operations, basic maintenance coordination and documentation for the Loch Lomond Water Treatment Plant, ensuring continuity of operations and compliance with water quality standards. The role works closely with operations and maintenance staff, providing functional guidance without full supervisory authority. Key responsibilities include supporting day‑to‑day plant operations, monitoring process parameters and reporting deviations, assisting with routine inspections and operational logs, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance via the CMMS, and handling contractor documentation. Additional duties involve user‑level SCADA monitoring, safety compliance participation, SOP development, inventory tracking, minor purchasing, report preparation and stakeholder interactions such as plant tours. • Support day‑to‑day operations of the potable water treatment plant, monitor parameters and report deviations. • Assist with routine inspections, data collection and operational logging. • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, including CMMS work order creation and closure. • Facilitate contractor documentation and ensure reports are collected and filed. • Use SCADA at a user level to monitor alarms and trends. • Contribute to safety compliance and participate in emergency response drills. • Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures and operational documentation. • Track inventory, manage supply requests and perform minor purchasing under manager approval. • Prepare basic technical and administrative reports. • Participate in stakeholder interactions such as plant tours or inspections.

What You Bring
Required knowledge encompasses basic water treatment processes, water transmission and storage, laboratory concepts, process control, mechanics, pumps, valves, instrumentation, SCADA, CMMS and health & safety practices. The candidate must perform operational tasks, collect and interpret data, communicate effectively with staff and contractors, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and follow safety protocols. Education equivalent to an associate’s degree or technical training in environmental, chemical, mechanical/electrical engineering, environmental sciences or a related field is required, along with two to three years of experience in water treatment or similar industrial facilities. A valid driver’s license is mandatory and the candidate must obtain a New Brunswick Class I or II Water Treatment Operator Certificate within 12‑18 months (Class I Water Distribution Certificate is desirable). Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, climbing and working in varied environmental conditions, with the ability to lift 25 lb frequently and 50 lb occasionally, and to operate basic tools and equipment used in plant operations. • Knowledge of water treatment processes, basic mechanics, pumps, valves, instrumentation, SCADA, CMMS and health & safety practices. • Ability to follow procedures, collect and interpret operational data, communicate effectively and work safely with multidisciplinary teams. • Associate degree or technical training in engineering, environmental sciences or related field; 2–3 years water‑treatment experience. • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a New Brunswick Class I or II Water Treatment Operator Certificate within 12‑18 months. • Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, lift 25 lb frequently (50 lb occasionally) and use basic plant tools.
