About the Role

At Republic Services, Technicians are essential for maintaining fleet performance and quality. The role involves routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. The Technician Apprenticeship program trains entry-level technicians over two years in areas such as electrical diagnosis, HVAC, wheel end, air system, air brakes, hydraulics, and overall truck preventative maintenance.

In addition to technical skills, the program teaches leadership, life-skill development, and builds professional networks to support a long-term career with the company. Apprentices receive a dedicated mentor, supervision from a fleet maintenance manager, and hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, tire work, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Candidates must commit to completing the two-year program, demonstrate logical problem-solving skills, and be willing to work flexible schedules that may include nights, weekends, or holidays. They must travel to and reside in Dallas for the initial training, then relocate to an assigned location across the United States after successful completion. The program starts March 23 2026 and includes paid training, a pay increase upon graduation, and placement in a fleet maintenance shop.

Training begins with nine weeks of company-paid instruction at the state-of-the-art Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by 22 months of on-the-job training, mentorship, and virtual instructor-led technical content. High-performing apprentices may advance to Level C Technician ahead of schedule.
