About the Role
In this role you will manage the production of outsourced design and direct the design and installation of mechanical and electrical services to meet project targets for time, cost and quality. You will lead the Mechanical and Electrical Services consultants and subcontractors through design, installation, testing and commissioning, positioning the role as a step towards a senior M&E manager position. You will be responsible for achieving the highest health and safety standards on site, leading the team by example and fostering a positive H&S culture, with monthly performance measurement. You will review and develop safety and quality plans to ensure compliance with Galliford Try’s business management system and SHE standards. All discipline subcontractors will be required to produce detailed contract programmes aligned with the overall schedule and submit weekly returns of labour, plant and materials. You will promote a ‘Best Quality’ culture, setting high workmanship standards and rejecting inferior work in line with BMS quality procedures. Subcontractors must carry out construction work in strict accordance with drawings and specifications. You will maintain professional, cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders following Galliford Try’s PR procedures. • Manage outsourced design and direct M&E services design/installation to meet time, cost and quality targets. • Lead Mechanical and Electrical Services consultants and subcontractors through design, installation, testing and commissioning. • Ensure highest health & safety standards; develop and monitor H&S plans; measured monthly on performance. • Oversee subcontractor programmes, weekly labour/plant/material returns, and enforce a best‑quality culture. • Ensure construction work complies with drawings, specifications and Galliford Try BMS quality procedures. • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders via GT PR processes.

What You Bring
Galliford Try is seeking a Building Services Manager based in or near Newcastle, with travel across multiple site projects in the region. The ideal candidate holds an HNC or degree in a recognised Building Services subject, has previous experience with a main contractor, and possesses full knowledge of health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM 2015. Basic understanding of subcontract processes, contract and commercial matters, and project management fundamentals such as programming, cash‑flow analysis and resource planning is also required. • Hold an HNC/Degree in Building Services; experience with main contractors; knowledge of HSWA 1974 and CDM 2015. • Understand basic subcontract processes, contract/commercial aspects, and project management fundamentals.
