Material Handler - 1st Shift

About the Role

Key duties include collecting and turning in cycled Kanban cards, completing rack audits, and using AS400 to locate material. The handler must recognize urgent requests from supervisors and production staff, support other areas of the material‑handling team, and safely operate PIV equipment while adhering to safety precautions. Additional tasks involve combining partial pallets at POU, loading POU locations using FIFO methods, floating into other SCM positions, scanning racks for stock outs, and assisting in managing the Production Tower. • Collect and submit cycled Kanban cards to the Material Planner. • Perform rack audits and locate material using AS400. • Respond immediately to urgent supervisor and production requests. • Support other material‑handling team areas as needed. • Operate PIV equipment safely and follow all safety protocols. • Combine partial pallets at POU to maintain clear shelves. • Load POU locations using FIFO and spike‑card consumption methods. • Float into other SCM and material‑handling positions when required. • Scan racks for stock‑out situations. • Assist in managing the Production Tower. • Work with planners to locate missing or misplaced material. • Complete daily pre‑use inspection of PIV equipment and report issues.

What You Bring

The Material Handler provides expertise in coordinating deliveries from Receiving throughout the facility across multiple product lines. The role demands strict inventory control, high organization, and self‑driven actions, and requires operation of both marketeer and stand‑up fork trucks. Direct communication with other material handlers, product line supervisors, and team leads is essential. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Arden, NC facility, unless they are active‑duty military. Required certifications include forklift certification (or the ability to obtain it) and a Fork Truck certification with at least three years of experience. Prior experience with AS400, Vista, and Microsoft Office is preferred. The position requires a certified PIV operator with a proven track record of safe PIV operation. Candidates should be self‑starters capable of completing tasks with minimal direction and able to float into other SCM and material‑handling roles when needed. • Hold forklift certification or be able to obtain it. • Fork Truck certified with 3+ years experience. • Experience with AS400, Vista, and Microsoft Office. • Live within 50 mi of Arden, NC (military exemption applies). • Certified PIV operator with proven safe operation record. • Self‑starter able to work with minimal direction.
