About the Role

The UGE Operator is tasked with operating machinery to install underground conduit, cables, transformers, pull boxes, transformer pads, and switchgear for customers. The role supports the line team and collaborates with other department personnel to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. • Operate jobsite equipment safely, including cranes, bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and trenchers. • Perform service, safety checks, and minor repairs on machines; monitor oil and fluid levels. • Inspect work area to confirm staking/locating before digging. • Assist maintenance crew or serve as laborer when not operating equipment. • Dig around live underground and overhead utilities. • Train, guide, or oversee lower‑graded operators and laborers as needed. • Follow the higher of MasTec or customer safety standards and procedures. • Load trucks safely and accident‑free. • Improve operations, reduce turnaround times, streamline processes, and ensure quality service.

What You Bring

The position requires physical activity in field environments, including bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in extreme weather conditions. Operators must have clear vision, precise hand‑eye coordination, and the ability to distinguish colors to perform essential functions safely. • High school diploma or equivalent. • At least 1 year of relevant experience; 2+ years preferred. • Valid driver's license; CDL Class A preferred. • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
