About the Role
The Industrial Intern supports the Project Manager on MasTec Industrial Construction (MIC) projects, providing administrative assistance and helping evaluate overall project status to identify potential risks. Duties vary with project size, ranging from specialized tasks on larger teams to a jack‑of‑all‑trades role on smaller sites. Key responsibilities include assisting with accounting and job‑cost tracking, securing drawings for subcontractor bids, supporting change‑order and RFI processes, preparing schedules of values and invoices, managing document control, recording meeting minutes, and providing administrative support to pre‑construction, estimating, and procurement teams. • Assist Project Manager with accounting, job‑cost tracking, and work‑in‑progress updates. • Secure drawings and specifications for subcontractor bidding, selection, and negotiation; act as liaison between project team and contractor. • Support field change‑order and request‑for‑information (RFI) processes. • Develop and prepare schedule of values and invoices. • Ensure engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation are correctly received, dated, filed, and distributed to the appropriate craft superintendent. • Record and transcribe meeting minutes; aid Field Engineer in client liaison, correspondence, and related tasks. • Provide administrative and technical support to Pre‑construction Services, Estimating, and Procurement departments. • Work up to 12‑hour shifts involving hard physical labor in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Qualified candidates are enrolled in a four‑year university program such as Construction Management or Engineering, can work both collaboratively and independently, understand MIC safety programs, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The role requires extensive travel and the ability to serve as a role‑model for the company’s culture and values. The position demands up to 12‑hour shifts of physical labor in varied weather conditions, the ability to lift up to 50 lb, work at heights, and wear required personal protective equipment. It is a full‑time role (approximately 50 hours per week) with travel requirements up to 90% of the time. • Enrolled in a 4‑year university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. • Ability to work collaboratively and independently while maintaining excellent rapport with team members. • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project‑specific regulations; participate in daily toolbox meetings. • Self‑motivated, capable of prioritizing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for coordinating team efforts and reporting project status to stakeholders. • Proficient in written and verbal communication. • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate for 6‑12 months. • Ability to serve as a role‑model of MIC’s culture and values. • Capable of lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lb and performing tasks such as pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and working at heights. • Required to wear personal protective equipment including safety‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and high‑visibility vest.

Benefits
This is a traveling, project‑based position that may place the intern at any U.S. project site, with weekly subsistence payments to offset living expenses in addition to a base salary.
