About the Role
The Transmission Line Engineer will lead design, engineering, and technical support for transmission projects, ensuring safe, cost‑effective, and high‑quality outcomes. This role oversees a transmission engineering team, manages project schedules and budgets, and contributes to proposal development and cost estimating. Key duties include providing expert analysis and solutions to complex engineering problems, planning and monitoring work activities, and producing thorough technical reports and documentation. The engineer must communicate effectively, create transmission line drawing packages, interact daily with customer engineers, and monitor deliverables to present solutions. • Develop complete transmission line design packages, including drawings, bill of materials, conduit lists, and specifications. • Perform total installed cost estimating and ensure designs stay within budget. • Utilize PLSCADD for line design, PLSPOLE for structure design, and MFAD for foundation design. • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE standards throughout design and documentation. • Mentor and oversee junior designers and drafters, providing technical guidance. • Conduct site visits to address engineering issues and modify designs during construction. • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and clients to coordinate project activities. • Assist project managers in preparing and reviewing proposals, contracts, and permitting documents. • Maintain professional relationships with customers and represent the company positively.

What You Bring
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program and have 5‑7 years of experience in power delivery. A Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred. Required competencies include strong mathematical and reasoning abilities, proficiency in reading and writing technical documents, and solid understanding of basic engineering principles and electrical concepts. Desired qualifications feature a background in civil/structural or electrical engineering, at least five years of high‑voltage transmission line design (69 kV and above), and familiarity with NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE standards. The candidate should be skilled in PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and MFAD software, cost estimating, bill‑of‑materials preparation, and mentoring junior staff while collaborating across disciplines. The position involves primarily seated work with occasional standing or walking, moderate noise levels, and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions. Physical demands include handling tools and lifting up to 25 lb.
