About the Role

The designer will lead the full design lifecycle—from discovery research through concepts, iteration, evaluation and final delivery—while collaborating closely with product managers, engineers and researchers. Responsibilities include creating wireframes, high‑fidelity prototypes, integrating user research, balancing technical feasibility with business goals, and supporting quality‑assurance throughout agile sprints. • Drive design process from discovery research to final design delivery. • Create digital interfaces, wireframes, high‑fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes. • Collaborate with product managers, engineers and researchers to define scope and iterate solutions. • Conduct user research, usability testing and validation with utilities, dealers, technicians and homeowners. • Apply customer insights and data to balance user needs, technical feasibility and business priorities. • Translate complex telemetry, load‑shaping, TOU rates and device‑control requirements into scalable, aesthetic experiences. • Participate in agile ceremonies, adapt designs mid‑sprint and support quality‑assurance efforts. • Document design rationale, specifications and async artifacts; leverage Carrier’s Air Design System. • Integrate AI design tools (e.g., Figma Make, Cursor) to enhance efficiency. • Mentor peers, provide critiques and raise overall design quality.

What You Bring

The role seeks an experienced, creative problem‑solver to design the look, feel, and user experience of Carrier’s digital and physical product solutions across residential and commercial markets. The designer will shape interfaces, dashboards and system‑driven UI patterns, ensuring they are both functional and aesthetically compelling. Candidates must have at least an associate’s degree and four years of experience designing and shipping complex software products, along with expertise in modern design tools and AI‑enhanced workflows. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s in design‑related fields, familiarity with front‑end technologies, and experience with energy‑IoT or smart‑home platforms. • Possess an associate’s degree plus 4+ years designing and shipping software products. • Have 4+ years experience with complex or enterprise‑scale software design. • Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools; ability to produce clear, rationale‑driven UI artifacts. • Minimum 1 year experience using AI‑enabled design tools. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design or equivalent is preferred. • Experience with AI design tools such as Figma Make, Cursor, Lovable. • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React to inform design decisions. • Strong visual design fundamentals (color, typography, layout, hierarchy). • Background in energy, IoT, smart‑home platforms or utility programs; familiarity with OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5 or DERMS. • Experience designing across hardware‑software ecosystems and enterprise operational tools.
