About the Role
The Design Manager will be responsible for delivering all terminal design work performed by multiple designers under various contracts. This includes overseeing architectural, structural, MEP, civil, utilities, and IT disciplines, ensuring design quality, managing BIM coordination, and serving as the technical liaison between developers, design‑builders, and subject‑matter experts. • Enforce architectural and engineering review procedures per contract standards. • Oversee design support, scope of work management, and permit coordination. • Review and approve technical documents, manage comment resolution, and audit designer responses. • Facilitate meetings and act as technical liaison between developers, design‑builders, and expert teams. • Collaborate with Project Managers and Program Design Managers to define and approve design requirements. • Establish uniform submittal approval procedures and monitor compliance with LAWA guidelines. • Develop and maintain a scope tracker to ensure all design elements are accounted for. • Monitor BIM production across all disciplines, ensuring adherence to LAWA BIM standards and execution plans. • Coordinate with LAWA’s Central Building Information Management (cBIM) to strategize BIM implementation. • Provide technical support for adjacent LAWA projects to ensure accurate interface and program consistency. • Prepare briefings, meeting agendas, and supporting materials for board, steering committee, and stakeholder meetings.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, with a professional licensure preferred. Fifteen or more years of experience managing complex, large‑scale building or airport projects—often exceeding $100 million—and familiarity with Design‑Bid‑Build, CMAR, and Design‑Build delivery methods are required, along with excellent communication and strong organizational skills. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field; professional licensure preferred. • 15+ years managing large, complex building or airport projects, including $100M+ aviation improvements. • Experience with multiple delivery methods: Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑CMAR, and Design‑Build. • Strong written and oral communication skills, detail‑oriented, self‑starter attitude.
