About the Role
As a NEC Project Manager at WSP, you will lead a variety of highways and infrastructure projects for Gloucestershire County Council. The role begins with WSP’s long‑term professional services contract, working from the client’s office and supporting their teams. You’ll spend most of your time on construction sites with occasional visits to the GCC office at Shire Hall, Gloucester. Collaboration with the client is central to delivering shared objectives. In this position you will discharge duties under the NEC contract, leading on‑site supervisors and quantity surveyors. You will verify that work aligns with the contract and works scope, and you will manage defects, early warnings and compensation events. • Lead NEC contract administration and project management, ensuring NEC4 compliance and best practice. • Act as Project Manager under NEC contracts, issuing instructions, managing early warnings and maintaining records. • Build strong relationships with GCC, contractors and colleagues to prioritize client satisfaction and collaborative delivery. • Manage resources, including remote teams, to meet fluctuating workloads. • Coordinate with clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time, within budget, and meeting H&S, CDM, QA and technical review requirements. • Produce project control reports and maintain robust programme management. • Agree on commercial positions, forecast and control costs for projects. • Ensure invoicing is performed in accordance with the contract.

WSP colleagues across the organization will provide additional resources and specialist expertise to ensure high‑quality service delivery. • Proven highways/infrastructure experience with strong NEC contract management background. • Experience managing NEC processes such as early warnings, compensation events and programme updates. • Strong organisational and communication skills. • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and related duties. • Financial and commercial awareness with project and resource management experience. • NEC4 accreditation or qualification (highly desirable).
