About the Role
The Senior Buyer leads cost‑reduction projects, commercial negotiations, and the implementation of sourcing strategies while improving business processes and providing leadership within the department and across the supply base. They are expected to create a competitive environment among suppliers and make sourcing decisions based on total cost of ownership. • Initiate quoting activity and evaluate supplier proposals. • Negotiate price, delivery, and total cost of ownership with suppliers. • Lead commercial negotiations to build long‑term supplier relationships. • Collaborate with design engineering to source optimal components for new product launches. • Coordinate with material planning to meet delivery and inventory targets. • Mentor and train department personnel. • Serve as liaison to resolve quality and technical issues with suppliers. • Manage supplier development programs and drive continuous improvement. • Research and assess new sources of supply, establishing selection criteria. • Implement corporate commodity management goals at the facility level. • Hold suppliers accountable for delivery, quality, and cost performance. • Maintain accurate records of quotations, purchase orders, contracts, and agreements. • Proactively resolve supplier accounts payable discrepancies. • Participate in cross‑functional teams to improve supplier performance and execute corrective actions.

What You Bring
The position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least three years of supply‑chain experience, with an MBA, CPIM, or CPM certification preferred. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Asheville site (active‑duty military exempt) and no relocation or immigration sponsorship is offered. Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills are essential. • Preferred qualifications: MBA or advanced degree; CPIM or CPM certifications; three years of supply‑chain experience including direct buying and supplier management. • Demonstrated strong negotiation, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and personal computers.
