About the Role
The Operations Supervisor – Hauling Operations oversees collections activities across commercial, residential, roll‑off, and container services within a geographically dispersed division. Reporting to the Operations and General Managers, the supervisor directs drivers and helpers, implements tactical initiatives, and drives functional excellence and budget achievement. The role also ensures adherence to accident‑prevention programs and compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, accounting, and ethical standards. Safety leadership is a core focus; the supervisor communicates safety goals, removes unsafe conditions from driver routes, and partners with sales to address hazards for new customers. Coordination with maintenance guarantees equipment compliance with safety standards, while effective accident‑prevention programs are overseen to create a safe work environment. Employees are engaged in a culture of safety through personal commitment and outreach. The supervisor ensures customer service meets or exceeds expectations by achieving missed‑pickup goals, resolving unusual service requests, equipment breakdowns, and schedule changes with timely communication. Direct interaction with customers resolves issues and enhances overall satisfaction, reinforcing the company’s reputation and fostering loyalty. Productivity goals are established and labor hours and disposal expenses are managed against agreed plans. The supervisor leads drivers to exceed productivity targets, redesigns routes for maximum density, and employs techniques such as service conversions and container upsizing to reduce route hours. Operational plans are executed to support division budget goals and fleet maintenance. A collaborative, communicative team environment is cultivated to boost employee engagement. The supervisor builds talent, understands career aspirations, and provides coaching to prepare employees for advancement within the company. Additional job‑related duties are performed as needed. • Lead and supervise drivers and helpers across multiple hauling business lines in a dispersed geographic area. • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, accounting, and ethical standards. • Develop and enforce accident‑prevention and loss‑control programs. • Collaborate with sales and maintenance to eliminate unsafe conditions on routes and for new customers. • Deliver superior customer experience by meeting pickup goals and resolving service issues promptly. • Optimize routes, manage labor hours, and reduce disposal expenses to achieve productivity targets. • Drive employee engagement through coaching, talent development, and a collaborative team environment.
