About the Role

Field technicians are responsible for gathering facility field data to support updates to records and the creation of design documents. Tasks include measurement, mapping, field photography, equipment inventory, staking, and other reconnaissance activities directed by senior technical or engineering staff. The role frequently works alongside senior employees, serving as a design or staking assistant. Technicians accurately collect field data using paper drawings, electronic forms, digital cameras, hand‑held data‑collection units, laser rangefinders, and GPS receivers as specified by project managers. They record measurements and dimensions with the appropriate level of detail and apply correct standards and symbology so that office‑based personnel can readily interpret the results. In emergencies, they may assist in power restoration efforts during natural‑disaster events, and they are required to meet production targets and adhere to project milestones, with occasional overnight travel. • Gather facility field data using paper forms, electronic devices, digital cameras, GPS, and laser rangefinders. • Conduct measurements, mapping, staking, and equipment inventory under senior staff direction. • Serve as a design or staking assistant during field reconnaissance. • Follow the Pike Engineering Safety Manual and champion safety initiatives. • Identify and document field items with minimal supervision. • Support power restoration efforts during natural‑disaster events. • Record measurements with appropriate detail, using correct standards and symbology. • Meet production targets and adhere to project deliverables and milestones.
