Job Highlights
About the Role
• Perform pre‑start, post‑start, and daily safety/operational inspections; report deficiencies and conduct minor repairs. • Follow shutdown, securing, and lock‑out procedures; keep equipment keys removed during washing/maintenance. • Schedule and execute routine maintenance per equipment manuals. • Operate heavy equipment safely, respecting capacity limits, emergency protocols, and utility location requirements. • Maintain situational awareness of site activities, personnel, and moving equipment. • Load, unload, and transport materials; place/remove TBW concrete barriers; achieve and maintain level grades. • Change attachments (forks, booms, hydraulic hammers) and understand equipment maximum capacities. • Communicate effectively with supervisors, fleet department, and ground personnel; lead ground‑man for utility locating when needed. • Ensure all personnel stay clear of equipment reach and secure pins before abandoning machinery. • Lift/carry 50‑80 lb regularly and up to 150 lb with assistance; climb on/off equipment safely.

What You Bring
MasTec Civil is hiring experienced Excavator and Dozer heavy‑equipment operators for its Tampa, FL location. The role is a non‑FSLA exempt, skilled‑craft position on heavy construction projects, requiring operation of equipment such as backhoes, excavators, bulldozers and loaders while meeting Safety Sensitive Position requirements. Candidates must have 5–9+ years of experience operating excavators or bulldozers on road, highway or bridge projects, relevant certifications and preferably a high school diploma.
