About the Role
Trainees must complete a twelve‑month employment period after receiving their CDL and will be responsible for vehicle inspections, safe operation of heavy trucks, waste loading and unloading, and adherence to all safety policies. They will also learn to identify unsatisfactory containers, monitor waste quality, and keep their assigned vehicle operationally ready. • Remain employed for 12 months after obtaining the CDL. • Perform pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues. • Operate heavy/commercial trucks safely along assigned routes, loading and unloading refuse. • Use manual/automatic controls to lift, load, compact, and dispose of waste at designated facilities. • Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers per procedures. • Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and maintain vehicle readiness by cleaning after trips. • Follow all safety policies and perform driver duties across residential, commercial, industrial, or roll‑off lines.

The Driver Trainee position at Republic Services is designed to train individuals to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) through a comprehensive program that includes classroom study, on‑route training, and a loaned truck. Upon successful completion and CDL certification, the trainee moves into a full‑time driver role within one of the company’s service lines—residential, commercial, industrial, or roll‑off. • Complete Republic Services CDL training program (classroom, on‑route, and truck loan) and pass the state exam.
