About the Role
A Development Manager (DM) provides developer expertise and strategic direction across the whole project lifecycle. Responsibilities include writing business cases, managing viability and financial modelling, leading planning and third‑party issues, handling land acquisition, driving scheme efficiencies, and acting as the client’s lead consultant until the project moves into construction delivery, after which the PM takes the lead. • Report to Development Directors to manage projects through all development phases • Work as part of a team to undertake bid submissions to win new work • Secure and complete the necessary administration for client commissions • Take the lead on new development opportunities • Obtain all statutory approvals / agreements in line with the client brief • Write and contribute to business cases • Undertake market analysis • Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with external professional consultants and public‑sector stakeholders • Obtain fee proposals, undertake tender analysis and recommend consultants for appointment • Assemble development teams • Work with internal teams and external advisors through design, planning, cost and value management, procurement and construction delivery phases • Manage consultant team to successfully appoint a Main Contractor for project delivery • Ensure a thorough handover to the Project Manager for the delivery phase • Continue to monitor the project through the delivery phase and remain the client’s main contact • Drive forward projects to achieve delivery milestones

What You Bring
Qualifications include strong post‑qualification industry experience, exposure to mixed‑use and office development, and familiarity with all development phases. Candidates must hold a full, clean driving licence and possess excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, strong IT competence, a solid understanding of RIBA design stages, planning procedures, development control, building regulations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Argus Developer.
