About the Role

• Select pipe type and size, plus related materials and equipment such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders per specifications. • Inspect worksite for obstructions. • Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other workers. • Cut pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, or pipe‑cutting machine. • Thread pipe using a threading machine. • Bend pipe manually or with pipe‑bending tools and machines. • Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings. • Assemble and install metal or non‑metal pipes and fittings using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints. • Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand and power tools. • Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping. • Test piping systems for leaks by pressurizing and monitoring gauges. • Weld pipe supports to structural steel members. • Observe production machines for malfunctions and operate machinery to verify repairs. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Use respiratory protection as required. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Compare and discern differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring

Journeyman level position requiring at least three years of documented field experience in the selected craft discipline. The role involves reading and interpreting instructions, planning, documenting, and independently performing work activities. Duties include laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, supports, fixtures, and associated hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and various production processes. The position may require a high school diploma or equivalent combined with relevant experience. Candidates should possess knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures, rely on established guidelines, and work under immediate supervision without independent judgment. Reporting is typically to a supervisor or manager. The role demands frequent standing, walking, and occasional sitting, with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb and exert pushing and pulling forces of 70 ft‑lb. Workers must be comfortable working at heights, climbing, balancing, and performing stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering tasks as described by the frequency symbols.
