Manufacturing Operator III- Spiral
Set up/operate wire winders and braiders to produce, test, and package PTFE/spiral‑wrapped hoses.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The operator is responsible for setting up and running wire winders to produce a spiral wrap over Teflon® tubing and for configuring braiders used with PTFE and larger‑diameter hoses. Work begins by following work orders and set‑up sheets to position carriers, load wire, and prepare the equipment for production. Key tasks include performing quality inspections on braided hose, conducting daily maintenance on winders, and proof‑testing finished hose using both inline testers and sample tests. The role also involves loading and stripping PTFE tubing from steel mandrels, operating overhead cranes and hoists to move mandrels and spools, running the oven to bake wire, and coiling and palletizing hose for testing. Accurate documentation of process data and ERP transactions is required, along with active participation in team meetings, problem‑solving sessions, and continuous‑improvement initiatives. The position demands strict adherence to plant safety, environmental, and ITAR regulations, maintaining a clean 5S‑compliant work area and supporting lean manufacturing efforts. • Set up and operate wire winders for spiral Teflon® tubing production • Configure and run braiders for PTFE and large‑diameter hoses • Move materials and carriers according to work orders and set‑up sheets • Inspect braided hose for pick counts, outer diameter, high wires, and score lines • Perform daily maintenance on winders (tension checks, roller checks, break pad changes) • Proof‑test finished hose using inline tester and sample proof tests • Load and strip PTFE tubing from steel mandrels before and after braiding • Operate overhead crane and hoist safely to transport mandrels, spools, and poles • Run oven to bake wire and set up tape machine as required • Coil and palletize braided hose for proof testing • Record process data and complete ERP transactions (labor, scrap, inventory) • Participate in team meetings, problem‑solving, CI events, and lean initiatives • Maintain a safe, clean, 5S‑compliant work environment
