About the Role
The Heavy Equipment Technician performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment, compact heavy equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks. Typical repairs include preventative maintenance inspections, hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems. Technicians maintain advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment and perform repair or preventative maintenance on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles such as compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders. They read and interpret equipment condition reports and repair orders, communicate with supervisors and operators, and document parts usage and work times. Daily responsibilities include completing consumables reports, analyzing oil samples and onboard computer data, and following all safety policies, including engine overhauls when needed. • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy equipment. • Perform preventative maintenance on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders. • Interpret equipment condition reports and coordinate with operators to clarify defects. • Complete work orders, consumables reports, and document parts usage and labor time. • Analyze oil samples and onboard computer data to support maintenance decisions. • Conduct engine overhauls and adhere to all safety policies, including OSHA HazCom and lockout/tagout. • Access health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Utilize the employee assistance program and discount programs. • Enroll in the employee stock purchase plan.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least one year of experience servicing heavy equipment and possess ASE certifications covering air brakes, tires, hydraulics, advanced electrical, drivetrain, suspension, and steering components. A mechanical trade school certificate or degree, a certificate in electrical diagnostics, and knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems, welding, or fabrication are required. Familiarity with OSHA HazCom, lockout/tagout, and fire protection regulations is also mandatory. • Hold ASE certifications for air brakes, hydraulics, advanced electrical, and drivetrain systems. • Possess at least one year of hands‑on experience servicing heavy equipment. • Earn a mechanical trade school certificate or degree and a certificate in electrical diagnostics. • Demonstrate knowledge of Tier 4 emission systems and welding/fabrication skills.
