Senior Estimator (Heavy Civil)

About the Role
• Review bid requirements and ensure all project documentation is complete. • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site tours, and bid review sessions. • Coordinate takeoff drawings and obtain subcontractor and vendor pricing. • Manage relationships with subcontractors and vendors to secure accurate, timely bids. • Review drawings for concerns and flag issues. • Report risks and special considerations to the lead estimator for profit evaluation. • Assist the lead estimator with project schedule and work plan development. • Review estimates with project developers and area managers before job commencement. • Prepare or support project budgets and assist with change estimates as needed. • Identify cost‑effective methods to enhance estimating projects. • Help prepare bid packages for subcontractor quotations. • Perform additional assignments as directed by the Director of Pre‑Construction.

What You Bring
Saiia Construction is hiring a Senior Estimator with heavy civil construction experience to support growth through 2026 and beyond. The Senior Estimator will engage with clients, review bid documents, perform detailed quantity take‑offs, secure subcontractor and vendor pricing, and prepare accurate cost estimates and bid packages for new and existing heavy civil and underground utility projects. • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related software. • Experienced using estimating tools such as InEight, Hard Dollar, Bid Build, HeavyBid, or similar. • Skilled in preparing drawing files and performing quantity take‑offs using 2D (Bluebeam Revu) and 3D (AGTEK, Civil CAD) software. • Competent with project scheduling software like MS Project or Primavera. • Understand civil engineering design, construction methods, and industry standards. • Knowledge of mass grading, earthwork, stream restoration, stormwater management, erosion control, and utility infrastructure requirements. • Strong written and verbal communication abilities. • Detail‑oriented with strategic problem‑solving and decision‑making skills. • Experience with job costing, scheduling, and estimating contract changes. • Ability to break down construction operations into logical activity sequences. • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field preferred. • 3–5 years of heavy civil construction estimating or project engineering experience.
