About the Role

You will join the Fresh Water Team to maintain and improve ICA control systems across several locations, ensuring compliance, reliability and operational efficiency. The position supports continuous improvement of process control and instrumentation. Key duties include performing planned, reactive and proactive maintenance, fault finding, calibration, testing and programming of telemetry, instrumentation, analysers and low‑voltage assemblies. You will manage PLC, HMI and SCADA environments, maintain change‑control records, configure site networks and respond to alarms from the Regional Control Centre. Additional tasks involve investigative work on instrument issues, root‑cause analysis, documentation, system modifications and coaching junior staff. • Planned, reactive and proactive maintenance of telemetry and instrumentation • Fault finding, calibration, testing and programming of analysers and low‑voltage assemblies • Implementation of process improvements and diagnosis of PLC faults (Rockwell, Mitsubishi, others) • Management of change‑control system for software updates • Backup and modification of HMI and SCADA systems • Setup and maintenance of control networks (Ethernet, DH+, Profibus, Profinet, RS232, etc.) • Conduct calibration to Southern Water standards and external national standards (HACCP, MCerts) • Respond to faults and alarms as directed by the Regional Control Centre • Investigate instrument and process issues at fresh water plants and implement remedial actions • Produce accurate documentation for internal change‑control compliance • Implement system modifications to improve process control or compliance • Gather evidence for root‑cause analysis and apply corrective measures • Coach and train team members to develop their skills

The role requires travel between sites using a company‑provided van and a full UK driving licence. Essential qualifications are NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent apprenticeship) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and an ONC/HNC in Instrumentation, Electronics or Control, together with strong problem‑solving skills and PLC/SCADA experience. Desirable experience includes working in process‑oriented industries such as water, petrochemical or manufacturing, and a keen enthusiasm for learning and career development. Benefits

The role is based on the Isle of Wight with negotiable travel to multiple sites. It is a permanent, 38‑hour per week contract (Mon‑Wed 08:00‑16:30, Thu‑Fri 08:00‑15:30) offering a salary from £37,260 to £53,820 plus overtime and on‑call payments.
