About the Role

Each role at HDR contributes to making a positive difference locally and globally. The Account Director position ensures engineering commissioning services are meticulously planned, managed, executed, recorded, and reported, while maintaining weekly contact with senior client teams. • Deliver project commitments on schedule while meeting quality standards. • Serve as primary client contact, promoting HDR services and providing weekly updates. • Prepare fee proposals and utilize HDR management systems. • Oversee project safety, team performance, and report issues promptly. • Review monthly job costing reports and supply data for board reports. • Advise on commissioning strategies, quality requirements, and scopes of work. • Manage HDR engineers and managers, handling recruitment and performance reviews. • Communicate developments and opportunities to the account team. • Improve systems and procedures, acting as a technical champion. • Represent HDR in marketing activities and ensure health & safety compliance. • Maintain strong relationships with staff and professional teams. • Ensure technical compliance and high‑quality deliverables. • Track project finances and control expenditures. • Attend project meetings and commissioning summits. • Prepare and sign off technical reports and commissioning documents. • Monitor scope changes and report internally. • Support tender submissions and assist colleagues. • Lead commissioning from design through completion and understand sustainability, operations, safety, inspections, and maintenance.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate is an experienced building services engineer with deep commissioning expertise across mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines. Technical competence in control engineering, fire systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, refrigeration, QA, sustainability, and standby power is essential, along with strong communication, time‑management, and interpersonal skills. • Possess 15+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines. • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills in HVAC, TAB, and controls with strong reporting ability. • Exhibit strong communication, time‑management, and interpersonal skills; proficient in MS Office and MS Project. • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, a PE license, and at least 10 years of related experience, including 5 years of project management. • Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad; valid driver’s license.
