Solution Architect P2D (Plan to Deliver)

About the Role

The Solution Architect is accountable for the design, integrity and quality of the SAP solution in Service Management. They oversee their assigned stream, handling Level 2 incidents with the service provider and coordinating Level 3 changes with the product team, while ensuring that the solution delivers required functionality and meets business needs. They also manage delivery activities, inter‑stream dependencies, and drive continuous optimisation of service operations. Key impact areas include defining the technical SAP architecture in collaboration with other architects, performing requirements engineering to distinguish between standard features, enhancements, and acceptable work‑arounds, and ensuring alignment with SAP standards and enterprise architecture principles. The role supports business demand validation, translates functional designs into detailed specifications, and communicates these to developers. It also participates in unit testing, supports user‑acceptance testing, and enforces non‑functional requirements such as performance, reliability and security. The architect is expected to stay current on emerging SAP technologies and industry best practices, share learnings within the SAP Centre of Excellence, maintain up‑to‑date solution documentation and training material, and contribute to the continuous improvement of SAP processes and service operations. Collaboration with users, business stakeholders and project teams is essential to deliver cost‑effective, compliant solutions while adhering to external and internal regulations. • Design and maintain SAP solution architecture aligned with standards and enterprise principles. • Collaborate with other Solution Architects to integrate SAP modules and applications. • Conduct requirements engineering to identify standard functionality, enhancements, or workarounds. • Validate and prioritize business demands and translate functional designs into detailed specifications. • Communicate technical specifications to development teams and support testing phases, including UAT and defect resolution. • Define and enforce non‑functional requirements such as performance, reliability, and security. • Stay updated on SAP innovations and share knowledge within the Centre of Excellence. • Create and maintain solution documentation and training materials. • Optimize service operations and continuously improve SAP processes. • Engage stakeholders to deliver cost‑effective SAP solutions while ensuring regulatory compliance. • Advise users on SAP processes, gather requirements, and recommend improvements. • Support installation, management, maintenance, and optimisation of SAP services. • Provide expertise and guidance to temporary work teams, monitoring progress.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees and have at least ten years of relevant experience. They should be able to advise users on SAP processes, gather requirements, support installation, management, maintenance and optimisation of SAP services, and provide guidance to temporary work teams. Strong decision‑making, issue‑resolution abilities, and fluency in spoken and written English are required, alongside a commitment to Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity. • Demonstrate strong decision‑making and issue‑resolution skills. • Hold bachelor's and master's degrees with at least 10 years of relevant experience. • Proficient in spoken and written English.
